PARENTS:
If you are interested in helping with the Halloween Carnival, please contact rita.wedderspoon@verona.k12.wi.us

As always, the carnival relies on donations for the game prizes. If you can donate small individually wrapped candy (nut free please!) or other small prizes, please bring them to the main office before October 30th.  THANK YOU!

STUDENTS:

Each year at Halloween time, we have two special parts to the day.

First, we have an all-school costume dress-up day.  Students and teachers can choose to wear costumes to school.

The second event is a lunch time carnival, sponsored by our parents and held in the gym.

All students are invited to wear costumes to school on Monday, October 31st.  There are a few reminders about costumes.

  • All costumes must be school appropriate, in good taste, and allow for a day of movement and normal class participation.
  • Face painting, hairspray, and makeup are permitted, but must be done at home, before coming to school.
  •  Students may wear masks to school and during the carnival, but not during class.  All hats, sunglasses, and other attire must relate to a costume.
  • Costumes that represent a slur to ethnic diversity or have guns or weapons as props are not permitted.
  • Other props are permitted as long as they are not disruptive to learning, but need to be in lockers during the day.

If you have any questions about costumes, students should ask Ms. Eskrich or Mr. Christofferson before they come to school on October 31st.  We want everyone to have a good day, and not have to change clothes due to inappropriate costuming.

For the lunch time carnival, students will report to lunch as usual.  After students have eaten lunch, instead of going outside, you will go into the gym.  The gym will be set up with games and activities.  Students will have the full recess time to play the games and to win prizes.  Respectful, positive student behavior is expected.

Our Halloween celebration has been a very popular and fun event for all involved.  Please keep it that way.  Participate if you want to, but even if you do not, please join in the positive spirit of the day.
