Dear Savanna Families,

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!

One of the topics we discuss frequently is student use of cellphones at school.  While our rules are quite clear that phones must be silenced and put away during the school day, it is amazing the number of disruptions many learners incur daily from social networking sites like snapchat, instagram, instant messaging, etc.

These are blocked by school wifi, so families are paying for service to allow these nearly constant disruptions.  I’m asking you to accept responsibility for monitoring your child's use. Parents should have their child’s passwords and consider keeping your student’s phone for a day (or better overnight) and monitor the chatter.  If your child limits this, blocks notifications or declines to engage, congratulations. If your child is a chronic user, please help them make responsible choices or remove the temptation.
