Student Belongings Pick Up Dates and Information

As we continue to work together as a district through this “Safer at Home” period, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we address numerous items leading up to the end of the school year. We have put together a process for you to retrieve your child(ren)’s personal items that remain at school.

In accordance with recommendations from Public Health Madison and Dane County, we will ensure our entire process follows COVID-19 safety precautions. Staff will assemble any of your child’s items that still remain at school from cubbies, desks, lockers, phy-ed lockers, and also include any other assignments or projects, etc. and place them into labeled brown paper bags supplied by VASD. Bags will then be left untouched for at least 72 hours between the time they are assembled and the time they are given to families.

Here are the times Savanna Oaks will be open for you to do curbside pickup. We encourage you to use the access road from Stoner Prairie or the driveway from Lacy Rd.

Tuesday, May 19th from 3 - 6 pm

Thursday, May 21st from 9am - noon


We ask that all families follow these instructions to obtain their child’s belongings:

Pick-up lanes will be designated and all vehicles must remain in those lanes.

Remain in your car at all times. Please roll your window down if you need to speak to staff.

Be sure to place your child’s first and last name, grade, and advisory teacher name on a sheet of paper placed up against your windshield. If you have more than one child enrolled in the same school, have each child’s name on a separate sheet.

When it is your turn, a staff member will either

radio the information into “runners” OR

each “runner” has a list of all students (with grade & teacher) and highlights it on their list then goes to get the items, OR

staff will photograph the info and go in to retrieve it. They will not touch the paper.

Be sure to open your trunk/hatchback and staff will place belongings in there, then move ahead so the next family can be served.

If a family has an ill member, please DO NOT attend. Families can send a neighbor or friend with prior written notification.

ALSO NOTE: Items that are not retrieved during the school’s pick-up time will be held until May 29th, after which they will be discarded.

Medications and other health supplies: Please contact our nurse, Ms Ducharme (ducharmr@verona.k12.wi.us) to make special arrangements for picking up any medications.

Lost and Found: In accordance with safety recommendations from Public Health Madison and Dane County, all items in a school’s lost and found may be bagged and donated at a later date as donation centers reopen, or discarded now.

Returning items TO School: Families may return VASD library books at this time, or can choose to keep them over the summer and return them once school resumes. If you wish to return books, you may put them in a clear plastic bag in your trunk/hatchback and communicate this information to staff upon arrival in your vehicle.

Keep your iPad over the summer UNLESS:

You have a graduating senior

You are moving out of the District

Your student(s) will not be at VASD next school year. If this is so, please put the VASD iPad, cord, and brick in a bag labeled with your child's first and last name, place it in your trunk/hatchback, and communicate this information to staff upon your arrival in your vehicle.

Again, thank you for your patience and we appreciate your help as we work together to not only follow safety precautions, but to also ensure your children can access all their belongings and finish their school year celebrating their successes as we prepare for the upcoming year!
