Improvisational Comedy and One Act Plays

PRODUCTION #1: IMPROVISATIONAL COMEDY SHORTS

Are you good at making people laugh?  Do you think quickly? Do you like being silly?  Are you a fan of the tv show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”  If you said yes to any of these questions, Improvisational Comedy Shorts is the activity for you!  We’ll learn 6-8 really cool games and present them to an audience. You’ll laugh until milk comes out of your nose, or your frowns will be cheerfully refunded! This activity rehearses at Badger Ridge, but there is a bus that takes Savanna Oaks students to BRMS!

Rehearsals: Mondays and Wednesdays starting September 17th from 3:45 5:30pm Performances: Wednesday, October 10th during the day and evening (you will need to be at BRMS at 6:00 that night for the 7:00 show, the show will end at 8:45, we will have a cast only cast party until 9:30 pm)

PRODUCTION #2: ONE ACT PLAYS

This is a series of four one act plays.  Every student who auditions will be cast in one show.  Three shows rehearse at Badger Ridge.  One show rehearses at Savanna Oaks. You may audition for any show!  Transportation will be provided.

The Monday night show will rehearse at SOMS.  It will be the comedy “The Internet is Distract-Oh, Look, A Kitten”. Micah has 20 minutes to finish her paper on “The Great Gatsby” before school starts. She just has to check a few facts on the Internet. She gets distracted by boxing kittens and pig throwing games. A funny show about our society. The Tuesday night show will rehearse at BRMS.  It will be the creepy Alan Haehnel drama “Property Rites”. A collector is selling a set of lifelike mannequins. Something’s not quite right with the mannequins, though. Who will discover the secret? Shh...don’t tell...it’s a secret...

The Wednesday night show will rehearse at BRMS.  “Jane Eyre - Life at Lowood” is a classic drama about a young orphan who is sent to a boarding school. There she meets new friends and discovers a kind teacher who helps her to reach her true potential. This is a great show about the power of believing in yourself.

The Thursday night show will rehearse at BRMS.  It is the comedy “Check, Please!” This ensemble show features a series of disastrous first dates. One character listens to a football game during dinner, another slowly steals all the silverware, while still another takes medicine with interesting side effects - all right, who brought the monkey?

All casts will have a total of 10 rehearsals, with Saturday rehearsals on November 10th, November 17th and December 8th. You are strongly encouraged to read scripts before auditioning.  You can read script samples for free at the following websites:
