ACCESS testing begins for ELL students

Your bilingual child brings strength to our school. Research shows that bilingual brains grow stronger by processing in multiple languages.

During December we will begin our mandatory, annual English language assessment for bilingual students, called the ACCESS test.  This test measures students’ English skills in the four language areas - listening, speaking, reading and writing.  You will receive a copy of your child’s scores in the mail sometime in this Spring.  This test will help teachers better understand who they are as learning.

Learners will take different parts of the test on several different days in December. They will have to miss some class time. Teachers will make sure that students have a chance to make-up any lessons or work that they miss.

Please contact Ann Byfield, at 845-4063 if you have any questions.
