Activities

Available to all students: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade

This is the most time intensive of the activities, but also a great deal of fun!  Every student who auditions will be cast!  You do not need prior singing or dancing experience.  All rehearsals are at BRMS Performing Arts Center (PAC)

PRACTICES:
Practices are every day, Monday - Thursday, 3:30-5:00. The 8th grade will practice at Savanna Oaks and the 7th grade will practice at Stoner Prairie. Boys from both teams can be picked up at 5:15 at Savanna Oaks or take the late bus home.

GAMES:
There is an A Team and a B team based on experience and skill. Both teams play on game nights. The A team plays first on Mondays and Tuesdays and the B team plays first on Thursdays. Home games will be played at Savanna Oaks (8th grade) and at Stoner Prairie (7th grade). Games start at 4:15. Click above for the Away game sites and maps. You may pick up your son after the game or the boys may take the bus back to Savanna Oaks and get picked up there. Boys may ride home with other parents ONLY IF THEY HAVE A WRITTEN NOTE FROM PARENTS GIVEN TO THE COACH. It is difficult to estimate ending times but usually both games are over by 6:15 --- add travel time for away games. Typically, for away games, we will be back to SOMS by 6:50 or 7:00. Boys can bring or borrow cell phones to contact parents on the bus ride home. Please be on time to pick up your child, so kids and coaches do not need to wait at school for long periods of time.

Cross Country is a distance running sport in which athletes race on natural terrain( such as grass and dirt trails) Those who are willing to work hard can succeed regardless of talent or experience. It is a great opportunity to set personal goals for improvement, spend time with peers, and be a part of a team community. To participate, each athlete must register using rSchool

• Cross Country season takes place September 4 - October 16.

• Cross Country is available to all 6th, 7th & 8th grade students at Savanna Oaks Middle School

• Practices are held after school Monday-Thursday at Savanna Oaks, 3:40-5:00

• There is a late bus at 5:15 p.m. to bring athletes home after practice.  

• There are no limits to the number of participants in each race. Everyone gets to compete. 

• Due to bus shortages nationwide, transportation to away meets is currently unavailable. We will need parents/guardians' help and support with carpooling to away meets.

• Middle school races range from 1.5 miles( 6th and 7th graders) to 2 miles( 8th graders).

•  If a 6th-grade race division is unavailable, 6th grader runners race in the 7th grade division. 

• Schedule may change due to weather or other circumstances.
